Sebastian Vettel strolled to his 11th victory of the season at the Buddh International Circuit to become the winner of Formula 1′s first ever Indian Grand Prix.

The Red Bull driver’s latest triumph was one of his most straightforward of his ultra-successful year. As his front row partner and team-mate Mark Webber was attacked by Jenson Button’s McLaren and Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari at the start, Vettel was free to pull clear.

He sat on a four to five second lead for most of the distance, as he led every lap and completed a perfect performance with the fastest lap of the race as well.

Button got through to second at the first corner, as Alonso twitched under braking and ran wide, letting Webber keep third. The Australian mounted some vigorous attacks on Button over the opening laps, before the McLaren managed to escape and head off for an ultimately uncontested second.

Webber then lost third to Alonso at the final stops, when being the first of the frontrunners to change to the hard Pirellis cost him.

Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa’s turbulent season continued with yet another collision between them. The Ferrari had got ahead of the McLaren on the first lap and was a safe distance ahead until an error just before half-distance left Massa vulnerable to attacks from Hamilton.

They eventually collided as Hamilton went down the inside at Turn 5 – with the stewards deciding Massa was at fault for leaving insufficient room and giving the Brazilian a drive-through penalty. Massa later retired when he smashed his suspension on a kerb, just as he had in qualifying, while Hamilton recovered from ninth to seventh after pitting for a new front wing.

He finished behind the two Mercedes, which were led by Michael Schumacher, who had moved onto Nico Rosberg’s tail with a fast start then jumped him for fifth with a late final pitstop.

Toro Rosso looked set to get both cars in the points until Sebastien Buemi stopped with smoke pouring from his machine. Jaime Alguersuari went on to take eighth, ahead of Adrian Sutil in the leading Force India, and Sergio Perez, as the Sauber man proved the most successful of those who ran ultra-short opening stints on hard tyres then switched to softs for the duration.

Perez narrowly beat Renault’s Vitaly Petrov, who followed the same strategy. Bruno Senna challenged for points in the second Renault but was hampered by KERS issues and finished 12th, followed by Paul di Resta (Force India) and Heikki Kovalainen’s Lotus – which showed strong race pace to run as high as 10th.

The Buddh layout proved tricky for the field to safely navigate as one on the first lap. First a brush between the two Williams sent Rubens Barrichello into Kamui Kobayashi’s Sauber, which then rejoined in the path of Timo Glock’s Virgin. Among several other brushes of wheels around the lap, Jarno Trulli was left with a puncture after his Lotus was punted into a spin by an HRT.

Results:

Hello! This interview that I publish is with Italian driver Luca Filippi.

The first season of Luca Filippi competing in the open-wheels was in 2005. He was champion in Italian Formula 3000 championship, scoring four pole positions, four victories and six podium results. In the following year, Fillipi started a six-season cycle in GP2 Series and GP2 Asia Series championships. In GP2 Series, the Italian driver started with a 19th place in 2006, and his best final result in the championship was the 2nd place in 2011. Throughout his six seasons in the championships, Filippi scored three pole positions, four victories and 16 podium results. In the GP2 Asia Series championship, Luca Fillipi best result was the 2nd place in 2010. Filippi competed in GP2 Asia Series from 2008 to 2011, grabbing 1 pole position, 1 victory and three podiums .

Luca Filippi competed in the AutoGP championship in 2010 and 2011, being fifth and runner-up. Three pole positions, two victories and a total of nine podiums is the record of Italian driver in this championship.

It is important to say that Luca Fillipi was test driver for Honda’s oficial Formula One team in 2008.

Here is the interview:

1 – How started your passion by racing cars?

My father was Italian rally champion in the 80s, so our family is involved in motorsport since many years. Then it looks like this passion it’s really addictive…

2 – What was the best moment in your career so far? Why?

Today. I’m happy, I’m completely satisfied with myself and my season, I’m relaxed because I know I’ve done everything was possible and I feel I’m in a great shape at the moment.

3 – What was the worst moment in your career so far? Why?

2008. There was a lot of expectation but we made the wrong choice on the team and the season went bad, then Honda decided to end the F1 program and I was part of it. Everything went wrong all together at the same time.

4 – What are the drivers who you like most to face in the races? Why?

Alonso and Button. Fernando because he is strong and determinated.

Jenson because I worked with him in the past and I know how fast he drives, then he is a real gentleman.

5 – After six years competing in GP2 Series, you were the runner-up in 2011. How you feel after securing this honorable place?

Finally I had the right car and the right team around me. I feel great!

6 – Did the 2011 season went as you expected?

It went much better, nobody expected these kind of performances! I feel I’m in a good shape and I drive better than always.

7 – Can you do a summary/review of your 2011 season?

The best season of my career, no mistakes, great results, many victories and I feel in a great shape.

8 – How was to work with Scuderia Coloni this year? Is this team very different compared with Super Nova Racing?

I found an impressive motivation at Coloni, it’s hard to say why. It can be the fact we are all Italian, the mechanics and engineer were waiting badly for a fast driver to compete for them, me being relaxed because I had nothing to lose…maybe all together. We basically just needed each other to find joy and confidence.

9 – Gives you more hopes to reach Formula 1 the second place in GP2 Series this season?

mmm… Not really so far. But I never give up.

10 – Have you already plans for 2012 season? If yes, what can you tell to blog Motor Racing News?

I want to be professional, I’d like to race and test for a manufacture. To develop a program and my career. I feel is time to move on.

11 – Is there anything more that you would like to say about your career?

IRL can be a great option too!

12 – Ending the interview: can you “send” a message for your fans?

I have to thank Italian tifosi and fans for supporting me in bad and better times and want to say to them to keep shouting and make some noise to make people listening…hopefully some important people for the top of motorsport.

picture: http://grandepremio.ig.com.br/gp2/2011/08/24/coloni+confirma+filippi+ao+lado+de+herck+para+etapa+da+belgica+10482833.html

Marco Simoncelli has died from the injuries he sustained in a crash on the second lap of the Malaysian Grand Prix. He was 24.

Simoncelli was fighting for fourth with Alvaro Bautista when he lost the front of his bike and slid across the circuit, into the path of Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi, both of whom then hit the Honda.

Simoncelli lay stricken on the track after the crash, his helmet having come off during the incident.

He was taken by ambulance to the circuit’s medical centre, but at 4.56pm local time it was announced he had succumbed to his injuries.

The death was the first fatality in MotoGP since Daijiro Katoh, also a Gresini rider, who passed away as a result of injuries sustained in the 2003 Japanese Grand Prix. The last fatal accident in the world championship series came when Moto2 rider Showa Tomizawa was killed at Misano last September.

Simoncelli had established himself as one of the most exciting new stars in MotoGP this season, his second year at the top level with the Gresini Honda team.

A former European 125cc champion, Simoncelli was a race winner and frontrunner during three years in world championship 125cc racing before coming to the 250cc series in 2006.

He spent four seasons with the Gilera team, with the breakthrough coming in 2008 when he not only became a winner for the first time, but charged to the title, beating Alvaro Bautista.

Simoncelli stayed on in 250cc to defend his title in 2009, although he narrowly lost the crown to future Gresini MotoGP team-mate Hiroshi Aoyama after an early-season injury left him playing catch-up.

He secured a MotoGP seat with Gresini for 2010 and became ever more competitive as his rookie season went on.

That earned him a factory specification Honda this season, and he took full advantage to get among the frontrunners from the outset.

Pole positions at Catalunya and Assen came amid a run of six straight front row starts, although incidents in races meant he could not deliver the results his speed promised – and led to rows with other riders.

But Simoncelli calmed his style as the season progressed, finally taking his maiden MotoGP podium at Brno, and achieving a career-best second in Australia just a week ago. He had also secured works Honda equipment again with Gresini next season, ensuring he would have started 2012 as a potential MotoGP winner.

Andreas Mikkelsen finally clinched his first Intercontinental Rally Challenge win in Scotland, having protected his lead through the final stages at Scone Palace.

The Norwegian had narrowly missed out on wins in the prevous two IRC rounds – crashing with victory in sight in Hungary, then being pipped by Thierry Neuville in a final stage showdown in Sanremo.

But in Scotland he drove flawlessly, battling with Guy Wilks early on, before emerging with a commanding lead when the Peugeot driver went off on Saturday morning.

A puncture today saw Mikkelsen’s once 50-second cushion reduced to 28s over a charging Juho Hanninen (Skoda), but he responded in style by winning the first stage after midday service and then cruising home to triumph by a comfortable 26.4s.

The result was also the first win for the Skoda UK IRC programme since its debut victory with Wilks on this event in 2009, when it was handed first place following on-the-road winner Kris Meeke’s disqualification.

Hanninen was off the pace for much of Saturday before set-up changes restored his confidence and he flew from sixth to second.

Bryan Bouffier took third, surviving final-afternoon brake problems in his PH Peugeot.

Ireland’s Craig Breen drove a superb rally to fourth in his Ford, coping with various mechanical dramas today to resist championship leader Jan Kopecky.

The Skoda man now has a six point series lead over team-mate Hanninen, with six drivers still in title contention heading for the double-points finale in Cyprus next month.

Kopecky was off the pace in Scotland, and only got as high as fifth thanks to other drivers’ problems.

Thierry Neuville ran as high as second for Kronos Peugeot, before two major errors dropped him to eighth. He fought back to sixth, passing Toni Gardemeister (TGS Skoda) on the penultimate test.

Neuville’s team-mate Wilks got back up from 23rd to 10th after his Saturday error, only for his Peugeot to stop on the very last stage.

Alastair Fisher recovered from his Ford dropping onto two-wheel drive to finish as highest Briton in eighth. British and Scottish champion David Bogie spent the rally battling for top Production car honours with the highly-rated Jarkko Nikara, until both crashed today.

Also dropping out while on course for a good result was Patrik Sandell, who held fifth for Skoda Sweden until sustaining terminal damage to his Fabia this morning.

Proton looked like it might be on for its best IRC showing of a very tough year when P-G Andersson fought for a podium spot on day one. But he received several minutes of penalties when his car refused to start during a Saturday regroup, and then retired this morning. His team-mate Alister McRae was in the points when damage caused him to lose oil pressure and stop yesterday.

Results (top-10 and major retirements):

Vettel clearly would have preferred to clinch his title with a win – underlining his determination by very firmly defending his lead against the faster starting Button off the line. The McLaren had to flirt with the grass in the close call, prompting Button to enquire over the radio whether Vettel ought to get a penalty. The incident was investigated, but no action was taken.

As Button lost momentum, his team-mate Lewis Hamilton swept around the outside of him into second, where he would stay until signs of a right rear puncture forced him to slow abruptly and make a slightly early pitstop at the end of lap seven. This would drop Hamilton to fourth once the first stops were completed, behind Alonso – who had passed his Ferrari team-mate Felipe Massa into the first corner early on.

Button was keeping his tyres in better shape than Vettel, and closed right in on the Red Bull at the end of the stint. Vettel pitted a lap earlier and stayed ahead in the first stops – but not in the second stops on laps 19 and 20, where Button’s superb in-lap pace and a great McLaren stop got the Briton out in the lead.

The safety car came out shortly afterwards to clear some debris, including a chunk of Massa’s Ferrari bodywork deposited at the chicane when he made contact with Hamilton while trying to go around the outside of the McLaren for fourth. This clash was also investigated, but no action was taken.

With the pack bunched up by the yellow, Vettel found himself back in traffic when he made an early third stop to switch to medium tyres on lap 33.

Button ran three laps longer and extended his lead, with Alonso staying out a further lap still and emerging just ahead of the frustrated Vettel.

The soon-to-be-champion was all over Alonso for a while, until Red Bull suggested now was not the time to take any risks. Alonso then shot off after leader Button, closing to within a second before the McLaren raised its pace in response.

Mark Webber jumped Massa and Hamilton with an early second stop and secured fourth, while having lost out to Massa in the same pit sequence just after their clash, Hamilton overtook the Ferrari again into the first corner on lap 37.

Michael Schumacher took sixth, staying out very late before his third and final stop and therefore leading a grand prix for the first time in his F1 comeback. That strategy also allowed the Mercedes driver to beat Massa to sixth.

Two-stop strategies worked brilliantly for Sergio Perez (Sauber) and Vitaly Petrov (Renault) as they took eighth and ninth. Nico Rosberg charged from the back row to take the final point for Mercedes.

Home hero Kamui Kobayashi’s hopes of a great race were ruined by a poor start that left him in traffic all afternoon. He could only finish 13th for Sauber, behind the two Force Indias.

Bruno Senna also lost out on lap one, getting away slightly slowly, then running wide. That and a slow first stop left his Renault only 16th.

The only retirement of the race was Sebastien Buemi, whose Toro Rosso left its first stop with its right front wheel dangling off.

Hello! This interview is with Stéphane Richelmi, a young driver from Monaco.

Richelmi’s debut in the single-seaters was in 2006. He was 12th in Belgian Formula Renault 1.6.

In the following year, Richelmi drove in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, beeing 46th. He also entered in two races of Italian Formula Renault 2.0. In 2008, the Monegasque driver competed in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 again, also entering in seven races of Formula Renault 2.0 WEC and in six races of Formula 3 Euroseries.

In 2009, Stéphane Richelmi scored his first podiums in the single-seaters. The young driver scored three podiums in the Italian Formula 3, being the 6th in the final standings. Richelmi also competed in the British Formula 3. In the French FFSA Championship, Richelmi drove in two races and scored one pole position, one victory and another podium.

In 2010, Richelmi scored is best final result in championships, beeing runner-up in the Italian Formula 3. He scored four victories and another four podiums in 16 races.

This year, the Monegasque driver competed in Formula Renault 3.5 and drove in the Monza round of GP2 Series.

Here are the interview:

1 – How started your passion for racing cars?

I don’t remember exactly, I was very young! I was interesting in rallyes done by my father and I watched the F1 Grand Prix at home since I was 6-7 years old. And I have been watching sports car that we can find in Monaco! But I never imagined I would start a career before my father suggested it when I was 12…

2 – What was the best moment in your career so far? Why?

My first pole in single-seater last year in Italian Formula 3 because I was a bit angry by the strategy chosen. I couldn’t have done my fastest lap before the 8th one which is very late with new tyres. I was sure that I won’t be in pole position…

3 – What was the worst moment in your career so far? Why?

The beginning of the season 2009 when I was still in the British F3 was really a frustrating and disappointed moment. I began my career in 2006 and after two short season of learning I was waiting for some good results than didn’t arrive in Formula Renault in 2008. I knew to start in a new category would be complicated but after the two first meetings, I was always last in the A class classification.

4 – What are the drivers who you like most to face in the races? Why?

I have to admit that I’m already surrounded by great drivers in [Formula Renault] World Series 3.5 like [Jean-Eric] Vergne, [Daniel] Ricciardo, [Robert] Wickens. There are also great drivers in GP2 but the best would be to race against Formula 1 drivers.

5 – The evolution of your career has been difficult. Are the difficulties motivated by financial problems?

You know in motorsports the driver can’t control everything and it depends of the team and the car he is driving. I’m not saying that I only found bad teams but my worst results are caused by the inexperience of some teams I raced with.

Financially speaking, we didn’t spend too much money in karting and even in single-seater, I didn’t make a lot of tests like others drivers. So for sure this lack of mileage had a role in my poor results at the beginning of my career but not now.

And like I said, the feelings with the car are really important and currently I’m thinking that the [Formula Renault] WS [3.5] car isn’t the best for my driving style.

6 – This year your career finally took a big jump. How was to compete in Formula Renault 3.5 and GP2 Series?

We decided to participate at the [Formula Renault] WS [3.5] because it’s a very high level championship with only professionals teams and on the greatest tracks of Europe. The winter’s test went well so it comforted myself to do this championship. Unfortunately it didn’t go well for some little reasons… The GP2 race in Monza was a great opportunity and i really enjoyed this race.

7 – How came the opportunity to compete in the last two races of 2011 GP2 Series season with Trident Racing?

Stefano Coletti had this accident so he wasn’t able to race in Monza and thanks to my manager, Cyrille Sauvage, who pointed up my good results in Italian Formula 3, we manage to race with Trident for the last race of the season.

8 – Can you do a summary/review of your GP2 Series participation this year?

In Monza the car impressed me with its brake’s efficiency and its powerful engine! The tyres deterioration was a new element to consider but I did quite well in both races without have driven the car before. It makes the race more interesting for the spectators.

9 – In 2011 your main championship was Formula Renault 3.5. What review you do about your season in this championship? Did the season go as expected?

I’m a bit disappointed about this season because I expected better! My first objective was to score points on each race and make at least one podium… Unfortunately we didn’t manage to put everything well together on a race week-end. I mean that if I make a good qualifying 1 the Saturday, I make a good race 2 the Sunday! Therefore I scored only some points in the Race 1 of Monza but started on the 4th position… It could have done better but I did two huge flat spots on the first braking and as it was the first race, we couldn’t change the tyres. In the last race, I was running P9 and when I tried to overtake one driver who has just made his pit stop, I spun…

10 – Have you already plans for 2012? If yes, what can you tell for blog Motor Racing News?

At this moment I really don’t know! But I would like to continue in single-seater for sure, so stay in WS or move up in GP2.

11- Is there anything more that you would like to say about your career?

I just want to say that I’m very lucky to get this chance of doing what I like the most! And that I learned a lot and have grown so much making this sport. I will keep in mind all the moments I get through. I will always remember all the people who helped me and have trusted in me.

12 – Ending the interview: can you “send” a message for your fans?

Without the fans, we couldn’t do anything! They are the key of each sports and other entertainment. So guys, keep going like this, I would give you the most of my time wherever I am. Thanks a lot.

Sebastien Ogier is now just three points behind Sebastien Loeb with two rounds of the World Rally Championship to go after winning a hard-fought Rally of France.

Loeb had led the first two stages of his home event, only to suffer a rare Citroen engine problem on SS3 and have to retire.

That left his team-mate Ogier in a huge three-way battle with Petter Solberg (Solberg Citroen) and Dani Sordo – who was driving a remarkable rally in the new Mini.

All three had spells in the lead, and while Solberg fell back to third with a puncture on Saturday, Sordo kept the pressure on Ogier until the end.

Ogier had got his lead up to 9.5s on Saturday night, only for Sordo to strike back and get it back down to 4.9s on day three’s first three stages. But Ogier was able to edge clear again on the home stretch and secure a vital fifth win of the year by 6.3s.

“Very good feeling, it was a bit difficult at the end, I had a not so good drive on the power stage but the most important thing is to get the victory,” said Ogier. “For sure it’s good for the championship, now we’ll have to do two good last rallies of the season.”

Sordo admitted to some disappointment at not winning, but was still thrilled to claim Mini’s best

“It’s incredible,” said Sordo. “A little bit disappointed because in the end I didn’t take the victory, but we have to be happy.”

Ford was unable to fully capitalise on Loeb’s misfortune. Both Mikko Hirvonen and Jari-Matti Latvala made mistakes on Friday morning, and the former was off the pace all weekend – requiring team orders to receive Latvala’s fourth place on the final stage. Latvala checked in early at the pre-SS23 regroup to take a two-minute penalty and fall to fifth. Hirvonen is also now within three points of Loeb in the standings.

FERM Ford driver Dennis Kuipers produced his best WRC performance yet to hold off Henning Solberg’s Stobart Ford and take sixth.

Three punctures relegated Mads Ostberg to eighth in another Stobart entry, while team-mate Evgeny Novikov had a puncture on Friday then crashed on Saturday.

Ken Block was another man showing his best WRC form to date as he took the Monster Ford to ninth, just ahead of Pierre Campana, driving a Mini entered by the French federation. Armindo Araujo looked set for seventh in another private Mini before crashing out this morning.

Ott Tanak moved into the S2000 championship lead by taking a dominant win on a weekend when rival Juho Hanninen was delayed by a puncture then crashed while trying to fight back.

Dani Pedrosa handed Honda a home win in an eventful and attritional race at Motegi, which counted Ducati’s Valentino Rossi as one of its several victims.

Jorge Lorenzo finished second and Casey Stoner a distant third following a mistake in the early stages. Stoner’s gap now stands at 40 points over Yamaha’s Lorenzo.

Pedrosa’s route to the front happened more by fortune than design, as accidents dominated the Japanese Grand Prix.

Rossi was the first casualty, as he made contact with Lorenzo at Turn 2 on the opening, losing the front end and also collecting Yamaha’s Ben Spies as he slid into the gravel and out of the race.

Stoner meanwhile had protected his lead and rapidly built a lead of more than 1s, but on lap four suffered a huge wobble over the back straight bumps and missed his braking point into Turn 11 – running through the gravel and dropping down to seventh as a result.

The lead therefore transferred to Andrea Dovizioso, who had passed his Honda team-mate Pedrosa in the opening stages.

Dovizioso however was one of three riders adjudged to have jumped the start, and on lap five came into the pits for his ride-through – Gresini’s Marco Simoncelli and Tech 3′s Cal Crutchlow following him in after also falling foul of the stewards.

Victory became a straight fight between Pedrosa and Lorenzo, and a series of fastest laps was enough to earn the Honda man his third win of the year.

Third had been a fight between the one Suzuki of Alvaro Bautista and the remaining works Ducati of Nicky Hayden, but by the halfway distance Stoner had passed both as he fought his way back to third.

As he did so, Motegi claimed another two victims. Hayden ran deep and through the gravel at Turn 1 while trying to follow Stoner, while several laps later Bautista made a mistake of his own accord, losing the front of the Suzuki at Turn 12 and crashing out from fourth.

Dovizioso and Simoncelli meanwhile had fought their way back through the field, and the Gresini rider claimed fourth one lap from the end with a typically aggressive pass at Turn 11.

Having fallen on the opening lap incident with Rossi, Spies capped a fine comeback ride by finishing sixth, ahead of Hayden and Tech 3 Yamaha’s Colin Edwards.

Toni Elias on the LCR Honda had held sixth but crashed with just seven laps to go, while on his MotoGP debut Damian Cudlin (Pramac Ducati) was another Motegi casualty, crashing out just after the half-distance mark.

Andrea Iannone took a hard-fought third win of the season at Motegi, as Marc Marquez finally captured the championship lead courtesy of finishing second.

From the outside of the front row Iannone (Speed Master Suter) passed Marquez (Catalunya Suter) on the run down to the first corner, the first move in a race-long battle between the pair.

Simone Corsi (Ioda FTR) and a charging Stefan Bradl, who had started eighth on the Kiefer Kalex, also got themselves involved, with the top four all covered by less than 1s.

On lap 7 Marquez found his way by Iannone on the pit straight, but that only spurred on the 22-year-old. He retook the lead several corners later and then set a series of fastest laps, with only Marquez able to stick with him.

Bradl meanwhile had worked his way past Corsi and looked like he may do enough to preserve a narrow championship advantage, until Thomas Luthi (Interwetten Suter) and Alex de Angelis (JIR Motobi) made it a four-way fight for third.

Bradl’s aggressive start was taking its toll, and he was picked off by Luthi and then Corsi, dropping him to fifth. He fought back on the last lap to snatch fourth from Corsi, but even so knew he would lose a championship lead held since the very first race.

The damage was nearly made worse as Iannone seemed to find neutral and surrendered a 1s gap to Marquez, but the Italian attacked instantly and passed Marquez again to take his third win of the year.

Marquez now leads Bradl by one point as a result, with three races remaining.

De Angelis came home sixth, ahead of Bradley Smith (Tech 3), Dominique Aegerter (Technomag-CIP Suter) and Esteve Rabat (Blusens FTR).

Home favourite Yuki Takahashi crashed from a fight for 12th on lap 6, while the Pons Kalex squad saw Aleix Espargaro struggle and pit with tyre issues and Axel Pons retire in the gravel six laps from the finish.
